Review of Detachment (2011) by Dustin M — 27 Apr 2012
As a fan of Kaye's previous film American History X,and Adrien Brody in general I was certainly interested. But I got to be honest, the first act of the film sucked.Over the top pretentious bullshit.
Following characters we don't even need to follow, kids yelling at Brody so unrealistically and a Sub plot involving a teenaged prostitute that felt like a poor man's version of Taxi Driver. But as the film progressed it got alot better.
Adrien Brody was never a problem throughout the entirety of the film,he was literally perfect in every way.But I wish the rest of the cast had more screen time.Instead of following Marcia Gay Harden and Tim Blake Nelson, follow the Zany James Caan and the spectacular Lucy Lui.
But in the end I liked it.But it was'nt what I really wanted overall.6/10.
