Review of Detachment (2011) by Angel G — 11 Oct 2012
A sad, powerful and honest movie about a depressive teacher who wants to turn the lives of people into something hopeful, and shows us what teenagers truly do experience in schools like this. It has a powerful message about bullying, suicides, hope and fixing your life.
Adrien Brody is nothing but spectacular, one of his best performances of his career sense the "The Pianist", sad thing is his performance is very underrated and will probably not be recognize by award shows.
Everybody is great in this movie, the cast shines and they all deliver raw and real emotion (particularly Brody, Christina Hendricks, Marcia Gay Harden, Lucy Liu, Sami Gayle and Louis Zorich). The movie is not afraid to try to punch your heart and break it, cause the story and emotion is very strong and sad, it even might make you cry.
Detachment is a very underrated movie with a strong vision of what high school can be with simply a big lack of respect for people, it features a big cast who all give powerful and shinning performances and in all honesty.
.this film presents what we exactly live in now.
