Review of Detachment (2011) by Ramak M — 03 Aug 2013
"Detachment" is without a doubt one of the most emotionally powerful movies I've ever seen. For many people, the film could be quite hard to watch due to it's deeply depressing material and outlook; but if you really watch and listen to what the movie has to say, you can learn some things.
You'll learn some things about yourself, your emotions, other people, and society in general. All of this is capable, of course, by some very powerful performances from big names like Adrien Brody, James Caan, Lucy Liu, etc.
It's rare to find comfort in sadness, but with the intelligence of this film it is quite possible. And that short 1 hour and 40 minutes of comfort really changed my life, and that's why I love movies.
