Review of Destroy All Monsters (1968) by Gus S — 20 May 2008
Set in the distant, wondrous future of 1999, this is one of the top Godzilla films ever made. Almost every Toho kaiju that appeared on film before this movie is present in a well-handled, epic battle. Even some obscure monsters (like Varan and Baragon) are seen in the background and Manda looks a hundred times better than he did in Atragon.
For once, the non-monster battle side story is actually very interesting with the evil Kilaak race taking control of all earth monsters. This was originally intended to be the final Godzilla movie (we all know how that turned out) and it would have been a fitting end for the series.
