I love the portrayal of space travel in this Heinlein-inspired film very much. You can see its influence in so many other films. It touched upon the cold war and media propaganda in a way that was refreshing. More realistic than many '50s sci-fi movies. It really makes an effort to be scientific above all else.
The Brooklyn comic relief is really lame, though. I get the need for an outsider for exposition, but was he ever annoying. He never makes good for his screw-ups. And.
