Review of Despicable Me 3 (2017) by Delwolf — 01 Jul 2017
Overcrammed. Anybody who has seen this movie already knows exactly what I am talking about. The 'minions in jail' subplot, the 'Lucy wants to be a better mother' subplot the 'Agnes wants to find a unicorn' subplot, the 'Gru and Dru' getting to know each other subplot, the 'Balthazar Brat' subplot - Just.
.. calm down. I would consider this worse than the priors, apart from the Minions movie. Not much of the movie tries anything new, nor tries its hardest to top any other animated movies from the past year.
It's fun enough to watch with your kids, and is a decent way to kill an hour and a half, but not memorable enough for me to give it a higher score. There's also definitely better to take your kids to see that parents can also get more enjoyment from.
What's undeniable, though, is how much money this will make. The cinemas were packed where I saw it, but hey. That's what Illumination does best. Overall, I'll put this right in the middle. It's exactly what you'd expect given the previous two.
