Review of Despicable Me 3 (2017) by Pipi L — 06 Aug 2017
You know, they say there are animation movies (or cartoons) that parents and adults can enjoy too, it is not only for kids...well this is not a good example of such movies!
I was bored all the way of the movie...no,seriously. Movie tries to get so many things "relatable" to you or families but it just fails. Characters feel completely off sometimes, acknowledging one thing and completely missing others.
Minions - no reason for them to be here, essentially. There some scenes but I don't understand why do they even exist....they are not for kids because...what the heck do the teach? Escaping prison? getting banana tattoos?
I understand that this is kids movie, but c'mon..kids don't review movies, they just wanna watch it and that's all.
61% on tomatometer is WAY TOO much! I think critics went too soft on them.
There were some obvious jokes/lines stolen from other animated movies too. (i noticed 2 only).
The lost & found brother story is too cliche and has too many plot holes.
I'll put spoilers at the end of this review, so you are warned.
Overall...if you REALLY like these movies, go ahead and waste your time. This movie does not deserve to be seen on theatre. Go see Cars 3 if you want an animated movie currently.
SPOILER section : if you have seen the movie or don't care, well you can read:
Dru brother is very uninteresting character, there is nothing to him, no backstory, no motivation and I have no idea why they made up a weird-non American-island-country to put him there. Nonsense. We never understood what pigs has to do with anything in there. Does Gru brother want to hit on Lucy? So many weird moments to explain to kids.
