Review of Despicable Me 3 (2017) by Jerry R — 29 Jun 2017
One of my most anticipated movies of the year. And I must say, Despicable Me 3 is a prime example of a great trilogy that still has enough meat for it's bones. The best thing about this movie just like the other two movies are that it is FUNNY.
I laughed so many times all throughout the movie. Dru I feel is a very likeable and funny character, especially for an all new and introduced character. The only two problems I would say about this movie are that the story in a way is a cliche.
The stuff there is in this movie are things I have seen before in others. One thing that makes the first two great are that they have unique stories in their own way. Also, the minions, while funny as hell just like in the other two movies as well as Minions, I feel like they were a bit of stand alone characters this time around.
In the first two, they seemed like not necessarily main characters, but big side characters. Sure this makes sense because they go their separate ways after(spoiler if you have not seen the movie yet) Gru refuses to go back to villainy, but I feel like they could have been big side characters just like in the first two movies.
And one small complaint is how (once again spoilers) Dr. Nefario isn't in the movie, which I thought was a bit disappointing because I really like him. But other than those two flaws and minor complaint, this is definitely a movie worth seeing! The characters are just great, especially villain, Balthazar Bratt.
He's so much like Vector from the first movie and then some. Also, the pacing is great, and the movie is overall just very very entertaining from start to finish. 9 out of 10. I may not like it more than the original, but it's right on the same level as the second movie.
A prime example of a really great trilogy, take notes, Cars.
