Review of Despicable Me (2010) by Ryan M — 25 Jan 2015
"Despicable Me", while cute at times, fails to come even close to reaching the cross-generational appeal and brilliance of a Pixar film or Dreamworks at their best ("Shrek 2", "How to Train Your Dragon").
Although the movie has its moments and a great voice cast (Jason Segel, Danny McBride, Jack McBrayer, Russell Brand!), it ultimately relies too much on slapstick and lowbrow humor, which keeps it safely hovering in the kid-zone.
