Review of Despicable Me 2 (2013) by Alex M — 19 May 2016
Despicable Me 2 is pretty much more of the same, although this sequel proves to be a lot more original in its inventiveness. While the story is cliched and predictable to a fault, scenes rarely play out in a conventional way - as a result, the movie is constantly hilarious and enjoyable to watch.
I certainly wish the story could have been more original, but regardless, the craziness going on on screen is more than enough to make up for it. The minions are just as funny, if not funnier, the voice acting continues to be top notch, and the animation is still beautiful to look at.
As far as sequels, Despicable Me 2 takes very few missteps. It could have been less predictable with its story, but still, I enjoyed the heck out of it.
