Review of Desperate Measures (2011) by Jacob W — 08 Feb 2008
There's something inherently fun about villains who are intelligent, resourceful, and without mercy or compassion. Hannical Lecter is the perfect example. Here's a film that takes all of these traits and hands them over to Michael Keaton, who can be a lot of fun to watch in the right role.
Unfortunately, after a while he develops a conscience and then the plot just becomes more and more ridiculous, redundant, and just plain dull. At times, it's unintentionally hilarious. Perhaps if Schroeder had taken this campy, B-movie attitude to the whole thing or let the actors breathe some life into this tired script, this would have been a good bad movie.
As it is, it's just bad.
