Preposterous is the one word I can use to describe "Desperate Measures". From start to finish, the entire film is a "been there/done that" kind of flick. Didn't I watch this movie a few years earlier? It was called "Silence of the Lambs" then...and the plot was much more enjoyable.

Instead of having a crazy psychopath helping you catch another crazy psychopath, here you have Michael Keaton playing a crazy psychopath whom is the only person in the world (apparently, preposterous point # 1 in this movie) that is a viable doner of bone marrow to Andy Garcia (a detective)'s son. Let me also state that Peter McCabe (Michael Keaton) is a criminal genius, and if that's true, then I'm the smartest man who's ever lived on this earth. He first rejects the offer to do this, then comes around to it. He then comes up with this crazy plan (so ridiculous, it's preposterous point #2 in this film and I won't even go into the details it's so crazy) to break out. He succeeds and basically you have 90 minutes of Andy Garcia chasing Michael Keaton.

Look I'm a huge die hard fan of Michael Keaton's work, and I think acting wise he does a fine job of playing this criminal. The problem isn't in his acting, it's the writing of this terrible, terrible script. I'd also like to point out (preposterous point #3) that Andy Garcia has no regard for anyone else's life but his son's and himself.

Only worth watching if your a fan of Michael Keaton, otherwise your head will be so blown away at the stupidity and sheer preposterous-ness of this film. If it wasn't for Michael Keaton, I'd be giving it one star instead of two.
