Review of Desperate Journey (1942) by Dave H — 02 Feb 2014
Silly, fun, energetic WW2 propaganda film. Plot starts with a Memphis Belle type bombing run, then becomes a great escape on the run through occupied Europe. Great to see Robin Hood and Little John riffing again, but Reagan's light-hearted turn outshines them, especially in his double-talk shtick with Massey.
The Nazis are hilarious caricatures. Director Walsh had a deceptively light, easy touch with these type of films, often up there with Curtiz and Hawks.
