Review of Desperado (1995) by Aaron L — 11 Jan 2011
One of my favorite opening scenes in a movie EVER! Steve Buscemi is perfect when he introduces Antonio Banderas as El Meriachi. Robert Rodriguez is a mastermind at dialogue it is just too bad that he masks the genius banter behind absurd action.
Few can create satirical action scenes like Rodriguez, but sometimes his urge to be creative will take away from the movie, as in the scene with the guitar machine guns, the guitar grenade launcher, and guitar remote control bomb.
All innovative ways to kill in Mexico but take away from the reality of the film far more than just men on hidden wires getting blown away by El Meriachi's hand canons. High entertaining and I recommend all Rodriguez films, so see it just know it's far from being reality, but that's how it's suppose to be.
