Review of Desperado (1995) by Damien K — 26 Jun 2009
I really liked "El Mariachi", but I couldn't take this sequel seriously. I especially thought it was really unfair to replace the original actor, who essentially made the first film so good, with Antonio Banderas.
At least not with the buff tan Banderas of "Desperado"; if he acting more like his persona in early Almodovar films like "Matador" or "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" then he might have passed for a slightly older (and harder) version of the original mariachi singer he was suppose to portray.
Nah, it was too hard to believe and the movie was another victim of Hollywood over-production.
