Review of Desierto (2015) by Nell A — 10 Oct 2016
It takes incredible storytelling and acting to get you to the edge of your seat without elaborate plot twists or extensive, dramatic dialogue. This movie manages to grab a hold of you with no stunts required - it pulls you in and doesn't let you go.
The acting is absolutely flawless on all parts - Jeffrey Dean Morgan as usual somehow manages to invoke even just one moment of sympathy for an otherwise purely evil character, and Gael Garcia Bernal is so on point that I did not even "see HIM" once, all I saw the entire hour and a half was his character.
This movie also shows a very chilling but simple truth that needs to be heard. Regardless of your political opinions, some things should be unacceptable for all of us - is that where we're heading, or will we never get there because we refuse to look?
