Review of Descent (2007) by Sashika P — 21 Oct 2011
Part pure visceral horror, part survival story, The Descent is a shining beacon of hair-raising cinema. The film expertly employs build-up through most of the beginning and middle, only to knock the audience on their ass when the thrills really start to come walloping in.
Neil Marshall has a strong hand when it comes to directing horror, using setting and atmosphere to his full advantage. To put it simply, this is the "Alien" of our generation.
