Review of Descent (2007) by Lucinda H — 31 Jul 2013
Nothing has scared me more in the past few years than this film. The claustrophobia is terrifying without the creatures. When they do turn up - the first time scared the crap out of me - they well realised and believable, exuding a primal, animal threat.
In the fight to get out, the women become almost feral themselves, becoming a threat to each other. Extra points for being an all-female cast who don't talk about men all the time! High scores on the Bechdel test! Hugely violent and gory, and it looks terrific too.
Great.
