Hands down the best British horror movie ever made. I have never been so scared watching a film before, and the reason it is so scary is because it constantly churns out moments of claustrophobia, gallons of blood, extreme gore and a lot of jump shocks, and the build-up is remarkable as you get a feel of the characters and the solid chemistry they each share.

As they venture deeper into the uncharted caverns, you'll feel uneasy because you know that there is something down there in the darkness. For repeat viewers, this film works every time at scaring you because it's bloody terrifying.

As the viewer you get the feeling of despair and no hope for the characters, and it's gruesome when they are picked off one by one in horrid ways. The atmosphere is effective and cold, such a tight setting works perfectly for what lurks down in the Caverns.

The Crawlers are the most terrifying creatures I have ever seen in a movie, they are relentless and hungry, I absolutely shit myself when the first one appeared behind Beth! And I continued to scream when more Crawlers appeared.

With an incredible build-up and 6 talented actresses giving 100% perfect performances, The Descent is a perfect horror.
