Review of Descent (2007) by Stephenie S — 10 Feb 2015
A movie that promised a scary outcome tumbled down into an action filled thriller where the main protagonist literally becomes a wild woman, The Descent was a huge disappointment, especially in modern times after a slew of other horror films with the same formula done better have emerged. Initially scary at first with the terror of being trapped in a claustrophobic cavern, we quickly go the down the route where mysterious creatures are the cause of the protagonist (and friends) despair.
Starting with a high note and ending with a wild woman fighting monsters and out for revenge, The Descent has definitely aged not like a fine wine or cheese, but like some moldy bread left in the gutter.
