Review of Descent (2007) by Luke S — 14 Feb 2015
The Descent is an immensely frightening film, as it shows situations of intense claustrophobia, psychological torment and extreme fear of the unknown. The special effects in this film were absolutely stunning, some of the best make up and gore effects I have seen in a horror film in recent years.
The film also has very well established female characters who you care for, which is extremely rare for a horror film. Luckily, The Descent is not another horror film that relies on jump scares, as the real horror in this film is the constant intensity that you feel throughout the movie, including the scenes that don't involve the creatures themselves.
The Descent is a scary, well-written, edge of your seat intense horror film with one of the most shockingly depressing endings I have ever seen.
