Review of Descent (2007) by Thomas P — 24 Dec 2015
Intelligent, well acted, intense horror film led completely by women who get together each year to challenge themselves physically and otherwise, opening the film on their rafting trip.
Turns out the actors pulled off the rafting sequence without stunt doubles - impressive and sets the bar high for the rest of the film.
It falters in the third act while the relationships are being tested by injuries and confusion when other 'elements' are added to the mix.
It ruined things for me when they have the big 'red herring' reveal - it should have stayed hidden and mysterious.
Good ending tho.
3 cut climbing ropes out of 5.
