Review of Descent (2005) by Alvin Y — 20 Oct 2011
Finally, a true solid and entertaining original work of horror in recent years. I'm gonna review the first and second at the same time. I loved the first one but the second, kinda miss some things a little bit. Overall, this is truly a movie that brings back the memories of the 70's and 80's chillers such as *Alien* and *Deliverance*, and after 30 or 40 years, we finally have a simple but great film! Just of course, the suspense is such thrilling and it's got a lot of that gotcha moments. This also a smart film that makes the characters so much to care for to the situation they're on. And as a matter of fact, those creatures are much scarier as any other horror creatures you've seen in movies these days. The performance is BLAH but still you feel the terror inside them as they explore this cave and tries to get out there alive. And who in the world would not appreciate this work at least?
So, the part 1 is the best of all the horror genre of the 21st century. And I've said what's good about it, so no more to talk about it. The part 2 is not quite good as the part 1, it then becomes very tired and very boring now. But in the second, there are some surprises that even me, didn't expect that to come, except that confusing ending again!
Well, *Descent 1 & 2* are truly worth your time even though the part 2 is just as you've seen in the part 1. And as a true professional moor watcher, I call the part 1 a masterpiece and the part 2 a worthy-piece! Just see for yourself!
