Review of Descendants (2015) by Christo A — 18 Sep 2015
It's not bad for a Disney Channel Original Movie. Though since it is a musical comedy, I expected more songs from a larger variety of characters, instead of focusing just on Dove. The Descendants suit their villainous parents' personalities, though I felt that Cruella was pathetic, and they cast her as a black woman with a white son (it is implied that all the descendants are blood relatives of the villains), but given that this is a light-hearted DCOM, I'll let it slide.
Kristin Chenoweth is almost unrecognizable as Maleficent, and she was brilliant. If Angelina Jolie was unavailable for her role as the evil fairy, Kristin would've been a more than suitable substitute.
Her bubbly persona shines through, but she can still manage to be evil. Kristin was like Glenn Close, as Cruella De Vil. Glenn Close' Cruella was funny, elegant and scary all rolled into one. Kristin pulled it off, and she was the star in this movie.
Her dragon form wasn't bad either, not as good as Angelina's, but not bad, though her horns were unrealistic.
