Gerard Butler's character is so unlikable that I found myself hoping he wouldn't make it through the movie. By the time he showed a smidge of humanity, it was too late for me to like him.
The movie takes a long time to develop and spends way too much time on Butler's character. Once things get going, it gets a lot better and I did enjoy the resolution. It just took a long time to get where it started to get interesting.
