Review of Demon Seed (1977) by Wahida K — 28 Oct 2009
Hugely memorable 1970s sci-fi thriller reflecting post-modern paranoia about technological progress as well as a feminist allegory in the mould of The Stepford Wives (1975) or Rosemary's Baby (1969).
Very much a creature of its time - a modern filmmaker would probably (rightly or wrongly) tone down the sexual content - but it is genuinely harrowing and compelling stuff.
