Review of Demon Seed (1977) by Derek S — 31 Jul 2018
A movie far ahead of its time. In Demon Seed, a self aware artificial intelligence takes control of the smart home of a woman while she is home alone. The AI locks her in and terrorizes her for days, eventually trying to use her body in a mad scheme to incarnate itself in human form.
The themes of psychological horror, body horror and claustrophobia are timeless, and the performances are very well executed. The only downside is that it looks like a product of the 1970s, and that will likely turn off a contemporary audience.
This is definitely a movie that could stand a modern reimagining.
