Review of Demolition Man (1993) by Robert K — 10 Oct 2014
Even if they were harmless shots in the dark, it astounds me how many of the loose predictions made in this sci-fi timepiece of action escapism were accurate: Hand-held devices with video conferencing capability, Taco Bell's foray into the gourmet restaurant scene, cars with autopilot ability and GPS.
The suffusion of jocularity and gratuitous violence works seamlessly. As a Stallone-led action blockbuster, it hits just enough right notes. As an attempt at satire, it often soars.
