Review of Demolition Man (1993) by Aodhan R — 18 Oct 2014
This movie lives up to amazing action, excellent humour, a beautiful woman, amazing futuristic set material and breathtaking moments!
Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes play policeman John Spartan and psychopathic crook Simon Phoenix. The humour is delivered from the talented performances of Stallone Snipes and Snipes steals the show with his unmatchable humour and psychopath-ness as they battle each other in a 1rh 55min showdown, only one of them can win. Stallone has just made his best movie since First Blood and has certainly made an improvement over the awful fifth Rocky installment. I haven't seen much of Snipes work, I've seen the first Blade, but it was ages ago, but he's definitely got my attention after his work in this movie.
I haven't seen much of Sandra Bullock either, but she certainly made an effort as well and her presence in the movie is charming.
Demolition Man definitely lives up to the disappointments of some awful sci-fi actioners, but it doesn't live up to the classics such as 'Alien' or 'The Terminator'. It's no call to say Demolition Man is terrible movie as I feel it's one of the finest sci-fi hits of the 90s - just like Arnold Schwarzenegger's two sci-fi hits: 'Total Recall' and 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day'.
