Review of Demolition Man (1993) by Stefano C — 06 Aug 2018
Surprisingly fun, undeniably stupid, and remarkably conservative: A styling black criminal is a danger to the tranquil and polished peace of white Hollywood, and "it takes a maniac to take down a maniac"-it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun, so that excessive police violence is not only justified, but in effect the only thing stopping society from slipping into fascism (because only fascism can stop fascism, according to this backwards logic).
But honestly, the movie is too ridiculous and too lowbrow for its conservative, fascist bent to have much punch.
