Review of Dementia 13 (1963) by Ken S — 05 Aug 2014
Francis Ford Coppola made his feature film debut with this Roger Corman-produced cheapo B-horror film. It has pretty bad acting, and is somewhat incomprehensible when it comes to the plot. Coppola early on showcases that he was a talented director, but the script is a total mess.
It feels like things got cut out or lost in the shuffle of things, and you are left with this sense that you aren't getting the whole story. Despite the nice direction (visually speaking) and some effective horror moments, the movie is mostly a waste, for people interested in Coppola's early days as a filmmaker only.
