Wrought with psychological tension, "Deliverance" is one of the classic thrill rides featuring outstanding performances from its four leads (Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ronny Cox and Ned Beatty) and several instantly memorable scenarios.
Boorman's film isn't one that is outright horrifying, but its terror is slow-burning and its depiction of the male psyche is stunningly accurate.
