Review of Deliverance (1972) by Mike S — 08 May 2012
Some amazing camera work in this survival-revenge drama. Excellent performances from Jon Voigt and Ronny Cox as buddies on a backwater canoe trip who run afoul of local hooligans. The whitewater scenes were very well done and you could see that no stunt doubles were used.
The only sour note was Burt Reynolds, who seemed to be in a different movie. His character was verging on over-the-top macho survivalist. And of course, that haunting score based on Duelin' Banjos.
