A scathing examination of a cover-up by the Catholic Church that allowed a pedophile in its priesthood to rape hundreds of children. It's as tough to watch as it sounds, but it's a fascinating examination of how people cope, or fail to cope, with horrific events.

The manipulation by the bishops and cardinals surprises most because they knew what was at stake and the injuries it was causing, but turned a blind eye nonetheless. The quiet psychosis and self-justification of O'Grady, the offending priest himself, is chilling.

What the film achieves best is presenting the way that everyone involved has tried to move forward since, whether they deserved to or not.
