Review of Deliver Us from Evil (2009) by Ann D — 02 Aug 2008
Great music. For the most part, very well-directed and cut-and-dry straightforward. O'Grady is hideous - disturbingly jolly and detached from the monstrosity of what he did. If he doesn't offend again (in Ireland sex offenders don't have to register, apparently) I will be very surprised.
..Some of the victims come across as histrionic interviewees on a MSNBC special though, especially a scene that shows two of the victims hugging in front of another camera that seems staged. And the film doesn't offer enough new insights or have enough breadth for such a well-worn topic: pedophiliac priests and the Catholic hierarchy that protects them.
