Review of Deliver Us from Evil (2006) by Victor W — 02 Jul 2007
A documentary that really shakes up the way you see something is rare to come by. The last documentary that had this kind of effect on me afterwards was Bowling for Columbine, and this one is just as well constructed.
It's amazing the way this film reveals the ultimate treachery committed by the Catholic church on its people by bringing you deeper and deeper into a conspiracy so plainly covered up. You can truly hear the victims' pains in their words, and knowing they're not just some paid Hollywood actors really allows you to connect with them.
Many points in the film are hard to watch without feeling a mix of anger and disgust. Of course this documentary will hold biased views, but rightfully so, and there's not much the Catholic church can really say to defend itself.
Ultimately, it leaves you pretty depressed knowing how horribly corrupted the Catholic church really is by money and politics. Watch to open your eyes, if they're not already.
