Review of Deliver Us from Evil (1973) by Jonathan B — 14 Apr 2009
Hands down one of the most disturbing documentaries I've ever seen, if not the most disturbing. I thought it was extremely wel made, but had a couple instances of manipulation of the the audience, but it does offer an illuminating glimpse into the corruption of the modern-day catholic church.
I hope it's not as bad as this movie makes it out to be, but it kinda makes the vatican look as corrupt as Hollywood makes the LAPD and NYPD combined... And it could be, but perhaps the MOST disturbing aspect of this movie, is that the "pastor" that the movie is about is a terrifying pedophile, but he seems like a normal guy, and almost seems to feel remorse for his victims, but he does all this awful stuff to them.
He's the ultimate split-personality. Creepy.
