Review of Deliver Us from Evil (1973) by Sv G — 01 Jul 2011
The documentary on how Fathoer Oliver O'Grady gets away with the sexual abuse of children for decades (both male and female) and still lives happily and free in Ireland. Never a day in jail for what he has done thanks mostly to the politics and protection of the Catholic church.
Best line of the film is "the only place Christ ever got angry was in church". So true. We are introduced the several of the children (now adults) that he abused and see how the abuse and lack of support from the church has touched their own lives, and the lives of their parents.
Heart breaking and eye opening, especially if you think the Catholic church has done a thing about changing any of this for the better aside from paying their court-ordered damages.
