Review of Delicatessen (1991) by Mark W — 21 Oct 2008
Visually stunning and beautifully odd. The movie is not perfect, the story doesn't always fully connect (too many stories to tell a.k.a overwritten) and some of the casting decisions are a little iffy but I couldn't help but love it.
Most of the acting was terrific and the the directing was amazing. It was extremely funny (the suicidal wife was amazing), tense, suspensful and wonderfully quirky throughout. This is one of the first overwritten stories where I wish it they had made it longer too tell all the stories of the characters because all of them were great ideas.
Overall if you like quirky love stories set in a bleak post-apocalyptic cannibalistic world...this movie is for you!
