The 1991 phenomenon that is DELICATESSEN is one of very intricate and stylized method. It functions with inexplicable visuals and, wrapped up in the horror story, there is a love story that gradually gains enough power to conquer that horror.
All I can say is I wish I had more than two thumbs to put way up for this splendid masterwork!
