Review of Delicatessen (1991) by James-Masaki R — 26 Apr 2011
Jeunet and Caro's first film is still one of the most creative, funniest, and weirdest movies in their careers, only to be surpassed by their next film a few years later. The plot itself is pretty average, but it all makes up for the bizarre characters and nightmare-like setting.
In a post-apocalyptic French apartment building lives a butcher with a bunch of unusual tennants. A man comes along responding to an ad for the building's handyman, which the previous man disappeared mysteriously... hmm, wonder what could have happened to him?
