Review of Delhi Belly (2011) by Rayneeil V — 04 Jul 2011
It's a simple story about a mix-up which lands the 3 protagonists into some gangster trouble. Writer Akshat Verma and Director Abhinay Deo try hard to make the movie shocking for Indian audiences by its generous use of expletives and toilet humour.
But eventually what we get are a handful of funny one-liners and gags. Rest all is ordinary slapstick stuff. The songs are catchy and placed brilliantly in the narrative. The acting is good. A special mention to Aamir Khan (the producer) because of whom the Indian censor board cleared this film.
There have been so many Indian movies similar in content which haven't been released till date. If at all the makers would've focused on getting more laughs, rather than shocks, it would have been really fun.
