Review of Déjà Vu (2006) by Nicka. — 01 Jun 2007
I really wanted to like this film but unfortunately even allowing for the always dependable Mr Washington it was absolute nonsense. Of course in many films you have to suspend disbelief but here even I was laughing at the preposterous plot and the so called explanation for this version of time travel.
The big problem here is for all the action the film lacked any real suspense and by the end I couldn't care less what happened, if the director doesnt make you care enough about the characters then that will surely disconnect the viewer.
I actually fast forwarded the last 30 minutes as I was so bored, but thought ok I really should watch it through in the hope that it would rise above the mediocre! sadly it didn't! utter nonsense, poor direction, a waste of a good cast, I could go on.
.. Denzel Washingtons star is fading fast and any more films like this will surely put the lights out on his career.
