Review of Déjà Vu (2006) by Saban E — 18 Jun 2011
I was surprised at home entertaining this film was, considering I had not heard good things when it was in theatres. But now I see that Tony Scott was the director and Jerry Bruckheimer produced. How bad could it be? Scott could make a dog food commercial riveting.
Denzel is Denzel - solid and large without being too over the top. A good supporting cast - including Val Kilmer in a somewhat minor role - helps too. As with most time-travel tales, there are some lapses in logic and your brain is best left at the door.
Not sure a ferry makes for the most interesting terrorist target, but the action that takes place in the "viewing room" is surprisingly effective. This isn't Oscar-worthy by any stretch, and I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in theatres, but it makes for a decent time-waster on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
