Review of Definitely, Maybe (2008) by Jess L — 06 Feb 2013
This is your run of the mill romantic comedy. There are no surprises here at all. Reynolds is a charming lead, his three love interests are equally enjoyable to watch on screen but the incredibly annoying, pint sized Abigail Breslin did not impress me in the slightest.
The screenplay itself is quite solid, the story of the three loves of his life told to his young daughter on the breakup of his marriage to her mother. The film really starts to lose control however when his divorce papers are signed and his daughter wants to help him reconnect with 'the true love of his life' who isn't her mother.
This is a completely unrealistic and unromantic conclusion to an other wise mediocre but at times enjoyable movie.
