Review of Defendor (2009) by Jean-François M — 25 Apr 2010
This movie was not half bad. First time director and writer did a fair job with this story of a mentally challenged wannabe crime fighter. When I saw the previews for this movie I thought it was gonna be a stupid type, "lets make fun of retarded people" flick, but oh no! Woody Harelson is awesome in everything he does and tackling this tough character was no exception.
He could have over done the character's disability quite easily "simple jack" style, but instead he makes you empathize with him and grow attached to his child like innocence and vulnerability.
This movie may be a bit misleading at first, don't get me wrong there is humor splashed throughout, but the drama is what will keep you interested.
