Arthur Poppington (Woody Harrelson) doesn´t understand or comprehend the world as we know it. After his mother left him to grow up with his grandfather, he created his own little world. As a grown up he is still very much involved in his own universe, and he has created an alter ego as well, Defendor, a vigilante super-hero with no power other than courage. And Defendor protects the city's innocents.. But, his nemesis, "Captain Industry", is the one he is ultimately after, since he believes that "Captain Industry" killed his mother. On his journey to catch his so called nemesis, he bumps into a crooked cop, Chuck Dooney (Elias Koteas), and as well a drug using prositute, Kat Debrofkowitz (Kat Dennings) and they become vital parts in his search.

So, this is another movie with a superhero concept, but with a different kind of darker and emotional twist. The character Arthur has created his own world, to protect himself from his inner pain and grief. He has kind of preserved himself in a childish state, the state his mother left him in and maybe his only chance to break free from this state of mind is to finish "Captain Industry"? This is an interesting psychological point of view moviewise on how loss can effect a person and his/her actions. I reckon Woody Harrelson gave proper life to Arthur. Elias Koteas was not too shabby as Dooney and the same goes for Miss Dennings as Kat. "Defendor" has some interesting emotional layers and I liked it. It differs a bit from other "superhero" concept movies.
