Review of Defendor (2009) by ♥ Chani L — 30 Jun 2010
Defendor is a Canadian superhero/comedy-drama film written and directed by Peter Stebbings, and starring Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings, Elias Koteas and Sandra Oh. The story tells of a regular man who adopts the persona of a superhero named Defendor on a quest to find his arch enemy.
Arthur Poppington is a regular but delusional man who believes that he is a superhero named Defendor. He combs the city streets at night in search of his arch enemy, Captain Industry, befriending a young prostitute in his quest.
This movie contains a very interesting concept and really an interesting story. Woody Harrelson is absolutely incredible in this movie and he really pulls this character off. Woody Harrelson's performance is outstanding and proves that he is a real "all-rounder". Such an interesting and original scope on the super hero idea and what society holds acceptable. Also it shows another look at the kind of person that would don a costume. Defendor is probably the most lovable of all. Harrelson as a very slow character who wishes to help society as well as avenge his mother. Man, Woody Harrelson is da man, doesn't matter what he acts in the film is good. It's been a great last few years for him. Great actor. Watch this film, great movie.
