Review of Defendor (2009) by Tibor B — 03 Mar 2011
An unsurprising straight to DVD release, Harrelson plays a superhero wannabe, whose love of dressing up and disablig villains with marbles and angry wasps masks a troubled man with some serious mental health issues.
It's a nice idea, mixing a superhero comedy with a poignant, serious character study. Harrelson and the solid cast are good, but the script doesn't quite get the mix right. I found it slow-going, with just a handful of effective moments, with not quite enough laughs and not quite enough dramatic impact as a character piece.
