Review of Defendor (2009) by Scott F — 12 Jul 2011
THIS is my kind of super hero movie. I'm sick to death of comic book adaptations that rarely, if ever stick to the origin stories, and are filled with a bunch of flashy bullshit special FX. This movie had more heart than 10 Spider-Men and 13 Iron Men's.
Granted, this isn't really a "super hero" movie, but we'll call it that anyway. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it going in, but man... $5 worth spent (used DVDs rule). Was well directed, solidly acted, and ended on a perfect note. I've always dug Woody and he did a great job in this. Elias has been a big favorite of mine for a long time and was awesome as usual. Kat Dennings was always off my radar, but she was great in this. I took notice for sure... and not just for her sexy lips.
If you love super hero movies, then this won't be the flick for you. If you love well made movies with heart, then you owe it to yourself to check out Defendor.
